England 2 - Trinidad & Tobago 0

If it wasn't for John Terry...

Finally, England showed something of their promise. The final ten minutes or so of the match the England side came alive, largely due to the energy injected by Lennon and Downing, but most certainly because Crouch finally figured out how to finish and Gerrard woke up. And wouldn't you know a Beckham cross had everything to do with it. Was it Sven's keen eye for substitution? Was it Trini (and Shaka Hislop) just running out of gas? The lads from the smaller of the two islands opposing each other acquitted themselves nicely. Even Dwight Yorke looked industrious!

Please. please let there be a way for T & T to deliver the goods against Sweden. Forget anything Brazil does going forward. Making the second round for T & T would be the lasting story of the Cup.

I am much more interested in the overachievers than the expected monster sides.
