Netherlands - Italy

We witnessed the return of Total Football last night.  The Netherlands looked formidable, fast and hard working -- even Ruud Van Nistelrooy broke a sweat!  Italy on the other hand looked old and not a little jaded.  Gattuso being out Gattusoed by Dirk Kuyt.  The Brilliant Orange played well in midfield and scored three in elegant fashion (though their first was clearly offside). Sneijder looked imposing, heck even Von Bronkhorst seemed impressive and had me forgetting Van Persie was on the bench most of the match.  Italy must figure out how to get some service into the box.  They had an early spell or two, but then allowed themselves to get shut down.  In the group of death, nothing will send you home faster than lack of speed and service from midfield.

I heard the ESPN host call it a "game" during the meaningless pre-match blathering.  Criminy.  They're woeful.  I did notice that the ticker thingee at the bottom now warns you when they're going to give final results.  Looks like all the complaints (GK's included) had some effect then.

Thoughts, anyone?  Anyone?  Anyone else watching this spectacle?
