I thought Cesc Fabregas made all the difference last night for Spain. He was provider on two of the goals and it was just reward for an amazing work rate. While Russia improved greatly over their opening match with Spain, making life more challenging for the Iberians, after the introduction of the influential Arsenal man, the writing was on the wall, particularly after the first goal went in. The replacement of Torres made a lot of sense as the lad's BTU consumption did not result in any lights being lit. He obviously has left his finishing boots at Anfield for the Summer. It made even more sense after Guiza, his frightingly talented replacement scored a mere 4 minutes after coming on. Good to see David Silva score to finish off the night. Spain showed patience, creativity and cunning in a display that should put Germany on notice. If there is one area to watch for Spain it is at the back on set pieces. With Germany's hulking defenders, Aragones will need to plug some of the seams that appeared every so often only to be frittered away by an inexperienced Russia. The Germans will not make those errors in finishing.
Man of the match: There can be no doubt that it was Fabregas.
