Relegation

As we head into a weekend where Sunderland face the always difficult Everton at the Stadium of Light, I am resigned to another loss and another step toward playing Championship opponents next season.  Doncaster, Plymouth and the like.  And is this such a bad thing?  While the natural condition is to always be striving, I think it's also healthy to be accepting of reality.  The Championship is where a club like Sunderland is at its best really and where it belongs.  It is more depressing to think about staying up and having to struggle again all season, getting crushed by clubs like Everton and Man City and, yes, Wigan.
