Troy Gooner Reflects ...

Italy was fortunate on the day. France made their mistakes - Henry's
continued lack of Henry-like finishing; inexplicable lack of men in the box
during Italy's weary last 20 mins; interesting timing of the Ribery and
Henry subs and the small matter of ZZ placing one last tattoo on
Materazzi's thorax. But AGAIN France played the more beautiful game, the
kind frequently admired by GK.

You don't get do overs, but I'd like a run at the pks with ZZ, Henry and
Vieira as my first 3 (then again, Barthez might have kept guessing the
wrong way 'til South Africa 2010).

This special group of French players broke into an exclusive club in 1998
and now have proven beyond doubt that it wasn't a fluke. I will miss them.
