As long as the rain bucketed down Switzerland were going to be okay. They figured out quickly they needed to keep the ball off the pitch. This served them well. But when the rain stopped and the pitch drained a wee bit more, Turkey reestablished itself. The play for the most part was quite physical and bordering on chippy at times. Stand out for Switzerland: Hakan Yakin. Where does this lad play his club football and why doesn't Sunderland buy him? But it wasn't too difficult to pick out a good performance in the Switzerland side as they generally looked rather bland when not playing in a tempest. They are now eliminated and Turkey must play the Czechs to see who joins Portugal from this group in the final eight. My money is on the Czechs.
